Message from the Board
July 1 is the beginning of a new Rotary year.  Each Arizona club sets goals for new membership, service to the community and fundraising to support worthwhile projects.  This time of year can represent new beginnings for you as well - preparing children for a new school year, deciding to further your knowledge and skills in a chosen field, or finally "getting to read that favorite book."

Happy Rotary New Year!
The Essence of Why We Exist
The mission of The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona, Inc. (TRVFA) is to partner with Rotary Clubs to provide assistance to Qualified Candidates in obtaining education, training, and skill development so they may, in turn, attain career oriented employment and financial stability and contribute to their communities.

Our vision is for students go on to become productive citizens in our state. The education they obtain will help them earn a living and raise their families. Because of their increased earning potential they help grow the economy of the state of Arizona.
What Is Happening Internationally?
DigDeep is a non-profit organization working to ensure that every American has clean running water forever.  Nearly 2 million Americans still don't have hot or cold running water, a bathtub or a shower, or a working flush toilet.  This includes people in every state.  In fact, 661 million people on our planet do not have access to safe, clean drinking water.  Internationally the task of collecting water tends to fall on women and children between the ages of eight and eleven.  As a result, women are often unable to get jobs or contribute financially to their households.  Children are often unable to go to school or get an education due to the thousands of hours they have to spend annually just hauling water.  Rotary chapters around the world, including many in Arizona, support efforts to alleviate this problem.
What Is Happening in Arizona?
At a recent Arizona District Rotary Conference, three of our alumni shared powerful and moving stories about how The Rotary Vocational Fund of Arizona Scholarship has changed their lives.  Each participant has plans to further their education even more to ensure a brighter future for them and their families.  The conference was attended by approximately 200 Rotarians.  The photo shows (l-r) Jocelyn Castillo, TRVFA President Dan Messersmith, Cayanne Nelson, TRVFA Chairman Dennis Haberer, Sofia Iberra, and TRVFA Board Member Jeanie Morgan.
